The Fluidized Bed consists of a segmented valved air distribution manifold with a porous segmented bed to support the sand. Vulcan can completely engineer, manufacture, and install shell/foam project or upgrade existing one. Inventory control and real-time shell/foam management appear simple with Vulcan’s state-of-the-art electronic shell/foam management system.
Fluidized Sand Bed
The Fluidized Sand Bed is designed to fit your investment casting system and facility needs.
- The porous segmented bed has retaining straps to eliminate the possibility of “lif” during a low sand tank situation. Low level probe is available for blower cut-off on low sand condition
- Available in standard diameter sizes of 30 in (750 mm), 36 in (900 mm), 48 in (1,200 mm), 60 in (1,500 mm), and 72 in (1,800 mm) or we can custom build to your specifications
- The units are constructed of mild steel air manifold with stainless steel tank to eliminate contamination due to rust and provide the customer with longer tank life. The unit is prime coat painted with an enamel eggshell white finish
- The air distribution manifold is equipped with valves used for tuning the fluidization
- The porous segmented bed is sized according to the customer’s sand specifications and testing at our facility. Also, the blower comes complete with a fluidization blower matched to provide uniform fluidization throughout the bed
- The blower is provided with a full high efficiency filter for low suction pressure drop
- The system comes with PVC piping and valving to within 20 ft (6 m) of the unit
- A clean out door is positioned in the lower front of the tank to provide easy access and clean-out
- The unit is equipped with a dust collar, which may be connected to the owener’s blast gate and dust collection system
- Optional snurd removal system is available
