Foam Molding Machine MPV120/120

Foam Molding Machine MPV 120/120 is used for producing foam replicas from pre-expanded polystyrene beads. This equipment is specifically designed for the lost foam process.

Extraction of Foam Parts

• This type of design allows you to extract the foam patterns in a flat horizontal mode. This means ease of extraction and less damage to foam parts.
• Tool Change
• This machine allows for tool change to take place with the aid of a buggy or fork lift in approximately one to two (1 to 2) hours. This compares with five to seven (5 to 7) hours with the MPH Foam Molding Machine.

Tooling Cooling

• MPV machine in our opinion has better cooling characteristics than the MPH machine.
• This machine uses far less water
• The cooling takes place by a mist in the chamber, which means less water and the tool cools down to warm.
• This means that the tool life is better as MPH machines go from very hot to very cold, which is not good for tool life.

Guide Rods

The MPV machine has four (4) guide rods in a vertical position, which means no weight from the tools are on the guide rods. The MPH machine has the guide rods in a horizontal position, carrying the complete weight of the tooling, platens, piping, etc. This will cause wear and distortion on the guide rods.

  • Horizontal operation (vertical parting line)
  • Standard Styrologic steam chest system; chest design allows for positive and quick tooling change
  • Tool flange faces are stainless steel
  • Adjustable, 2-speed, pressure compensated hydraulic system.
  • Four over-sized guide bars, containing expansion compensation bearings, provide quick motion, even load, plate to plate squareness with powerful locking forces
  • Pressure bead fill system with a fine tune regulator for producing thin wall patterns; and connections for attaching fill guns.
  • Even heat transfers to both tool faces controlled by independent steam valves
  • PLC controls for machine functions. All process steps are freely programmed and continuously indicated on panel mounted touch screen operator interface
  • Fixed and moving chests have adjustable water dosing system providing efficient atomization of a small quantity of water
  • High power vacuum system containing liquid ring pump and accumulator designed for rapid evacuation of steam chests and stabilization of foam pressure along with minimizing foam moisture content.
  • Integrated demolding foam part removal system to provide safe and damage free handling of foam patterns
